The Centre operates internal monitors that draw publicly accessible and lawfully obtained signals into a single operational picture, so that developments receiving little analytical attention, relative to their security consequences, are not lost from view. Analysts in the Observational Research Department work from them to correlate events across sources and trace each observation back to its origin.
A monitor of the world’s active armed conflicts, so that theatres receiving little analytical attention, relative to their humanitarian and security consequences, are not lost from view.
A monitor of the criminal threats that bear on national security, from illicit finance to transnational organised crime, so the points where criminal activity meets the Centre’s remit can be seen without stitching together a dozen separate feeds.
Both run on the Centre’s own infrastructure and inform the advice the Centre provides to the entities it supports.
