Maple Shield

The Centre's annual flagship conference on the security challenges facing Canada and its allies.

Maple Shield is the Centre’s annual flagship conference. It convenes practitioners, analysts, researchers, advisors, and senior decision-makers from Canadian and international partner organisations for substantive dialogue on the security challenges facing Canada and its allies, through panels, keynotes, and invitation-only sessions on sensitive topics.

Sessions run under Chatham House rule unless a speaker agrees otherwise: participants may use what they hear, but may not identify or quote speakers or their affiliations.

Who attends

Practitioners, analysts, researchers, advisors, and senior decision-makers from Canadian and international partner organisations. Members receive preferred access and registration priority. Student researchers and volunteers attend at no cost, part of the Centre’s commitment to the next generation of national security professionals. Accredited media may attend designated sessions.

Annual summit

Maple Shield is paired with the annual summit, a closed strategic planning forum held about six months later, where the Centre sets the priority issues for the following conference year. It is not open to the public.

Registration

Members receive preferred access and registration priority, and individual membership includes a Maple Shield registration benefit. Registration is handled through the Centre’s ticketing partner.
